Recommendation of the week!

We rely so much on our smart phones that the very thought of a dying battery can make us break out into a cold sweat.

Couple that with being away from home knowing you’ve left your charger on your bedside table... And feel the real panic set in.

It is a major frustration that we’ve all dealt with.

We use our mobiles for a whole tonne of stuff these days, from watching movies, playing games, to working on emails, social media and as a sat navigation tool. So it’s no wonder we’re all familiar with seeing that flickering battery warning level light, reminding us the end is near.

If you find yourself needing to use your drained mobile in a hurry, and with no charger device to hand, the Borrow It app is perfect for hunting out the nearest available charger to you. Simple!

For a small charge, you can borrow the charger from a friendly face in the community and use it for an agreed amount of time. So for all those long journeys that suck the life out of your smart phone, you can now be sure to have enough juice to get you home (where you’ve left your charger in the first place)

Charger Facts and Tips

  • Standby power usage is now below half a watt for most electronics. This mean when your charger is plugged in to the wall but not connected to your phone, it’s only using the equivalent of a few pence of energy across the whole year.
  • Half a watt = saving one hot bath’s worth of energy ever year (so get unplugging those chargers when not in use)
  • It’s better to not fully charge or fully drain your phone battery as the stress of the high-voltages can wear your battery down and cause it to die sooner.
  • To make your battery last longer, dim the screen and turn on auto-brightness as this will adjust to the light around you, without using as much power.
